$14.21 Horse chestnut extract has demonstrated a variety of beneficial effects including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiedema, venotonic (helpful to veins) and vasoprotective (protective of vessels or ducts) actions. Published studies show alleviation of subjective symptoms of venous insufficiency such as pain, tiredness, tension or heaviness in the legs. The therapeutic objective in managing venous insufficiency is to treat it at an early stage in order to prevent dangerous and expensive complications. The key active ingredient in horse chestnut is a substance called escin. Pharma- ceutical grade horse chestnut extracts contain between 16 and 20% escin and the therapeutic dose used in clinical studies is 50 mg of escin taken two times a day. Venotone is an extract of horse chestnut which has been standardized and concentrated to ensure the highest quality, consistency and biological activity. Sustained release provides continuous activity while minimizing the potential for gastric irritation. 1 capsule contains 250 mg of horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) seed extract powder standardized (20%) to supply 50 mg of escin (triterpene glycosides). Other ingredients: dicalcium phosphate, methylcellulose, silica, gelatin and water. Dosage and use 1 capsule every 12 hours or as recommended by your healthcare practitioner. This product is most effectively utilized when taken with meals. Research shows that effectiveness increases over the first 6-12 weeks of continuous use.
